Then vs. Now

In the 1950's,60's,70's,and 80's kids would spend their free time activities differently from kids today in the 2000's. For example, according to http://nymag.com/news/features/childhood/e-l-doctorow/ kids would actually go outside, play games with others, and interact with each others. Also, kids back then would go out with friends and go to movies or shows that were all cheap and have a good time.
On the other hand, in the 2000's kids would be on their phone more often, not go outside as much, stay inside more and become lazy and obese. These changes might have occurred due to the fact that more inventions have been made to help people run errands all at once while staying in the comfort of their own home. For example, I stay home on the weekends and watch t.v or play television and stay on my phone all day, without thinking about going outside or hanging out with friends.
